New Authors Challenge 2010

Literary Escapism hosts this awesome challenge, and I could not pass it up. I already give myself a goal each year to read the works of new authors, and this will just make the challenge even more fun!

January 1st, 2010 - December 31st, 2010

Guidelines

1. The challenge will run from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010.

2. Since this is an author challenge, there is no restriction on choosing your novels. They can definitely be from other challenges. However, the authors must be new to you and, preferably from novels. Anthologies are a great way to try someone new, but only a third of your new authors can be from anthologies.

3. I want this to be an easy challenge, so you can pick to do either 15, 25 or 50 new authors. It all depends on how fast you read and how adventurous you want to be. For me, I’m trying another 50 new authors. If you reach your goal halfway through the year, don’t stop. Any new author you try can be added to Mr. Linky. We all want to know about your new experience.

4. After reading your new author, write your review and then come back
here
and add your link to Mr. Linky. Make sure you include your name and the author, but adding the title is completely up to you.

5. Bloggers or Non-Bloggers alike are welcome.

I'm personally going to choose to do the 50 new authors. I've already read over 50 books for this year, and have read nearly 30 new authors. That is only since starting my blog, so I can only imagine what the coming year has in store for me. I will list them as I go!

Challenge : 3 4 5 Reading Challenge

Yes, another reading challenge! I know your going to have a hard time turning this one down...so don't even fight it! I'm subscribed to Froggaritaville's Bookcase, and that's how I found this great Challenge started by Chick Loves Lit.

Here are the rules!

1. It will run from August 1, 2009 to August 1, 2010

2. You may sign up at any point in this time period

3. To complete the challenge, you must read THREE books from one series, FOUR books from another series, and FIVE books from another series(For example: Song of Fire and Ice trilogy by George RR Martin, the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer, and five of the Chronicles of Narnia books)

4. You do not have to choose your books ahead of time (but are more than welcome to)

5. You do not have to 'complete' a series (i.e. you don't have to read a trilogy for your three book requirement - just 3 books from the same series)

6. Only books that you read between August 1, 2009 and August 1, 2010 count

7. The books you read may count for other challenges

Sounds easy enough right? RIGHT! So, head on over to the Sign-Up Page, because so far there aren't a lot of us that have signed up...and we need you to participate! I will update this list as I finish each book, and link back to their reviews!

Challenge : Countdown 2010

I've decided to enter Michelle's Countdown Challenge 2010 this year! I just heard about this challenge from Emeraldfire's Bookmark and thought I'd give it a try. I'm pretty sure I can get this challenge finished, but hey, who knows..right?

Here are the rules :

1. The goal of this challenge is to read the number of books first published in a given year that corresponds to the last digit of each year in the 2000's----10 books from 2010, 9 books from 2009, 8 books from 2008, etc. The total number of books required, therefore, is 55.

2. This challenge lasts from 09/09/2009 through 10/10/2010.

3. Crossovers from other challenges are allowed, and your lists may change at any time.

4. Sign up Here, using the Mr. Linky form. Link to your Challenge post.

5. Have fun reading!

Great! I will update this page as I finish each book. They will each be linked to their reviews, so make sure to go and check them all out! I will also try to post my progress each month, but something tells me I may forget, lol. Good luck to all who sign up!

The rules for the What an Animal Challenge II are the same as the original What an Animal Challenge:

1. Read at least 6 books that have any of the following requirements:

a. there is an animal in the title of the book

b. there is an animal on the cover of the book

c. an animal plays a major role in the book

d. a main character is (or turns into) an animal (define that however you'd like ;o)

3. Challenge runs from July 1, 2009 to February 28, 2010. That’s 8 months to read at least 6 books (you can read more if you’d like). You can still sign up after July 1st as long as you can get
6 books read by February 28th ;o).

4. Books can be fiction or nonfiction.

5. You may make a list of books at the beginning of the challenge or you can just list them as you find them.

6. Book titles may be swapped out at anytime (assuming you made a list to begin with).

7. Crossovers with other challenges are permitted and encouraged.

8. You don't have to have a blog or write a review, but you can if you want to.
